Motion Capture: Killing the Soul of Animation is the title. Here is my introduction, hope you see where i am going with this.

We have all loved animation for its ability to break free from the realm of the physical world. Cartoons defy every single law of physics and bend the rules of biology. And we as viewers still love them and accept them for everything they do because well, these are ‘cartoons’. If someone were to see a human perform the same crazy antics as Wile E. Coyote it would induce more horror and shock than laughter. It is a simple fact of animation. But still some studios and directors feel the need to ‘push realism’ in 3D animated movies through motion capture.

Slumdog Millionaire

Twitterverse had been buzzing about this movie for a few weeks now. And I couldn't hold myself any longer. When I realized that I won't be able to download a good print of the movie off the internet anytime soon, I decided to look up which theaters it was playing in. I asked (who else?) Doni to go with me, and he (reluctantly) agreed even though He'd rather go watch Valkyrie.

I am going to describe and rave about the movie extensively here,(if you want the plot, go to IMDB) and I might unwittingly post some spoilers. So people who haven't seen the movie, proceed with caution. I will, however, try to color the spoilers blue so that it blends in with the background.

Let's first talk about the crew. There are very few Indian people involved in the making of this movie apart from the cast. Actually even the Actor who Plays 18 year old Jamal, Dev Patel, isn't Indian. He's from U.K. His parents were born in Kenya (Thanks @kg86 ) The Director of the movie is Danny Boyle (British) and Co-Director in India was Loveleen Tandan (Indian). None of the producers are Indian, Not Screenplay, not cinematography(which was beautiful, BTW) Production Design, set decoration, costume design, Makeup, sound department, Visual effects... The list goes on.. without Indian names. Still, the movie feels very Indian, and true to reality. I can't think of any other movie which has portrayed India without any embellishment making it more glamorous or more gritty than it actually is.

The movie starts off with amazing editing cutting from the shots of Jamal Malik sitting on the set of KBC and being interrogated/tortured by the police. One can easily assume the KBC part is the flashback and police torture is the present. On KBC, Anil Kapoor makes fun of Jamal's profession, a call center assistant. Calls him a Chai walla. I don't think either of the hosts(SRK or Big B) of the Indian version of Who wants to be a Millionaire would do such a thing and have the audience laughing at the contestant's expense. (That was for "Kamzor Kadi Kaun"). Something that one might find a little awkward in the beginning is hearing the actors speak 'hinglish'. Dev Patel's accent is not very Indian, (because he's british and he doesn't speak hindi) like the other Indian actors. Which can be explained by the plot(He worked at a call center and probably picked it up there.)

The police wants to know how he got all the answers right on KBC. How did he cheat. Did he have a wire? did someone give him all the answers? Jamal stays calm and composed despite the torture, and tells the cops he just knew all the answers. Then we go into the flashback of his life, which the movie is really about. The scene of the kids playing cricket at the airport immediately brought a smile to my face. Everything was shot/portrayed so 'honestly'.. the cops coming to shoo them away, all the kids running for their lives through the slum 'gully's and rooftops. The background music that is playing during this song is amazing. I got home and immediately downloaded the soundtrack of the movie. I marvel the way they shot the chases so smoothly through the slums. And after all that, it was all really beautiful too.

All the scenes in even the dirtiest, grittiest places, the mumbai slums, red light area, shores of the Yamuna river in Agra etc. are so beautifully composed, that you are in awe of them at all times. The events in his life are the key to the answers to the questions on the show. But the first question, anybody could answer. And has a very perky light hearted story attached to it. Of how he got Amitabh Bacchan's autograph. The second one however, turns the movie right around, and you get to see the dark side of life. As his mother is killed by a mob of hindus in the communal riots.

Some things, having lived in India, and watching the news everyday, hearing the grown-ups talk, one just gets to know about the life of these kids in the slums and on the streets.. so when I saw a van with 'orphanage' written on it, I could predict where the movie was going. But I hope for people who didn't know this dark underbelly of Mumbai, this was a pretty involving twisted plot. I was really glad that Salim does the right thing and they make a run for it, to escape the people from the orphanage who were making them beg for money.

And the rollercoaster ride continues, the movie takes an upbeat pace again. With M.I.A. song 'Paper Planes' playing while the kids earn money hawking stuff in the trains, travelling on the train tops, between two compartments, etc. The scene where they try to steal passenger's food is hilarious yet scary. Then they are in Agra, posing as tourist guides. Again, I believe people who don't know the history of Taj Mahal missed out on a few laugh out loud moments as Jamal screws up and tells the foreign tourists fake stories about Taj Mahal and everything related to it. You don't feel anything's wrong even when the kids are shown stealing money, or back in mumbai now, working at a hotel, re-sealing mineral water bottles..

At one point, I actually felt that the life of these kids is SO BADASS! I wished I had a childhood like that. Because even though they did get into a little bit of trouble, they always came around. They drink, they walk into a red light area, they rescue their old friend Latika... but here comes the disturbing part again.. Elder brother Salim is carrying a gun. And he shoots the orphanage owner! Then meets up with the gangster/don of their slum. I guess we all knew the big brother was the type.

Here on, the movie doesn't hit you in the face as much.. Because no more slum shots, Jamal is working in a call center, his brother is a rich gangster, And Latika lives in a nice house with the Gangster of the slum(I can't remember his name) He goes to meet her, and sees her condition, here is when the movie takes a little romantic turn. Jamal finally tells Latika he loves her. The scenes in VT again bring back the little hustle and bustle and life of mumbai back into the film.

We also see in the later half how the host himself gives Jamal an answer, but his guts tell him to not to listen to the host. And he answers the question correctly. That's what drives Anil kapoor to turn him in to the cops. The news channels are buzzing about this. And all of India is shown glued to their tv sets.. I remember it really used to be like that back when KBC first came on air. Because the biggest prize in 'Kaun Banega Cororepati' is the highest prize in the world in terms of standard of living. The difference from living in a slum to winning 2 crore rupees, is unfathomable!

Okay, enough disclosing the plot of the movie. I will just say, that in the end, there's finally a bollywood style song and dance sequence with the credits. Done very 70's bollywood movie style. I stayed and watched that even though I had to pee really bad. Final verdict, ***** 5 stars! Awesome movie! I love how the slums are portrayed as a very energetic, lively place instead of how people would generally look at it with pity and sorrow.

This is a really amazing song that I relate to for some reason. I first heard this song with a LOST music video. But I downloaded it and heard it by itself.. over and over again. The lyrics are something I would like to say to somebody. And thought it would make a perfect blog entry. I would also like to quote a dialogue I heard from a television show.. The following is a comment meant for Aayush's blog post. He said Wall-E was a pretty disappointing movie and I was outraged. I typed out this whole thing without even blinking an eye(Figuratively speaking). But his annoying comments form wouldn't let me publish it because now for about 6 times, it think that the word verification I typed is incorrect. So I say 'fuck you image verification.' I have my own place to voice my opinion and I will publish it there.

Dear Friend Aayush,

I don't know whether I should laugh and snicker or blow up with rage! I mean, I would love to say 'I told you so' about pixar not being the best at making animated movies but this is definitely one of their better movies. (Cars was one of their less than stellar movies.)

Let's see the 'other aspects' you mentioned.
The story: A completely new and original plot. Unlike the obviously cliché'd Cars story. (Actually I read the story pretty closely resembles Doc Hollywood) How do you not appreciate the creativity and imagination that went into conceiving a plot about how the human race ended up in space and a ROBOT of all things comes to the rescue while fighting another robot/computer?

Characters: Wall-E himself is one of the best characters ever conceived. He is not shallow and one dimensional. He has a very enchanting personality. And other characters also come into their own as the movie progresses. Have you seen the short Burn-E? Even that robot has a personality, he feels disappointment, shame, failure,motivation... I could go on.

Acting: are you blind? Wall-E's performance is the best ever, bar none. R2D2, ET, and numerous other robots and alien characters that I can't even name right now.

Dialogue: sure it didn't have much literal dialogues but the sounds the machines make, convey their emotions. Think back to the old charlie chaplin movies and try telling me movies have to have dialogues to be entertaining.

Agreed Ratatouille had the best 'character animation' in any movie to date. But this movie had a different set of physics to play with.. Humans were fat and jelataneous in this movie and the rest were robots who were not meant to be very elaborate machines, just functional. Similarly, the universe of cars was very different. you can't compare them to each other.

High angle shots in cartoons

Hi, I was gonna do a high angle shot panel in my storyboard for animation portfolio. And so I set out to start looking for reference. But, unfortunately, I couldn't find any. So if any of you know a tv show or a movie in which at some particular scene, high angle shot is used, or maybe even bird's eye view for a character, let me know. I will update this blog entry as I find more reference for this too.

Even wikipedia would be a good place to add a list of movies that use high angle shots. I got this idea because someone's already doing this in the low-angle wiki.

This cop is abusing a 14 year old boy. The kid is just being defensive because he is scared and the cop manhandles him and pushes him to the ground. This is SO wrong! I'm glad he was suspended, but not as happy as I would have been if he was fired!

When we were beginning to learn to do longer poses and measure our drawings, at the workshop, we were told to ALWAYS USE THE STICK. Measuring was a pain in the ass for me so I would avoid it. And everyone would go, the stick is always right.

well, slowly i grew more comfortable with using it. But it wasn't all hearts and roses. I was still ending up with longer legs and wide torsos. And everyone would always give me shit about it. I'd just accept that maybe I didn't measure it right. But today, I could finally prove my point. As I was drawing our model natalie, sonya came up to me, and told me the legs are too long. I said, well, I've measured the start and end of the thighs against the height of the torso and it's right. She took the stick, measured it herself and just kept telling me it should be shorter. But when I insisted on her to observe properly, she came to the conclusion that it was the head that was screwed up.

later, when gerard was looking at it, even he said the leg was too long.. And sonya started saying in a very sarcastic voice, so the stick was right, and sonya was wrong eh? I said, well yeah, the stick is always right.. It was all over a weird perspective or seating position.. Pissed me off so much.. anyways.. Gotta get back to drawing.

101 Dalmatians

I am not sure if the name of the movie was spelled that way...with an 'a' instead of 'o' in dalmations, but the spell checker says dalmatians is the right spelling. Anyways, you can all go ahead and say 'God! yash, you are so stupid.' So as soon as you're done with it, lets move on. Yesterday, as I was working on my room drawing, Mickey was watching like parts and clips from old disney classics. Animated movies like The great mouse detective and 101 Dalmatians. I was pretty intrigued and very distracted... but I think it was a good thing.

Because in the night, after I had done dinner and was too lazy to draw, we decided to watch a movie, and I suggested lets continue watching that movie. And I was so impressed that I decided to blog my thoughts about it. Plus, its a nice change from blogging about Taare zameen par. But before I get going about the animated 101 dalmatians, I'd like to tell you about a funny incident that happened a few years go when the live action 101 dalmatians movie was released. I was in seoni, during the summer vacations and we decided to get a movie to watch. I think it was me and harsh who went, and got 101 dalmations. When we got back home, we told nikita we were gonna watch 101 dalmatians and asked her to call ruchi didi while we set up the video cd player and stuff downstairs.

She went and told ruchi didi but when they came downstairs, ruchi didi looked really confused. She asked me 'what movie did you get?' I looked at her confused and said '101 dalmatians, you know, like the breed of dog...' She laughed and said "Nikita told me you guys got 101 dimensions. And I was not really sure what its about.. Because I started thinking dimensions like 2D or 3D? But there are only 3 dimensions.. what does the title mean? maybe dimensions like measurements?" And even I started laughing... much to the embarassment of nikita. I'm pretty sure that now she can look back and laugh at it.. like I can laugh at 'kisne roba mera tobat'

The animated feature was much different than the live action movie. I really liked how the dog refers to the human as his pet. Which I think is pretty appropriate. I bet this point has been made a lot of times... Humans picking up the dog's business, humans feeding the dogs, washing them, grooming them... doesn't sound like we're the masters... LOL. Anyways... I really liked the seargent and captain and kernel characters too. The scene where the puppies are walking over ice, is pure genius! The way they are slipping and skidding on the ice is so natural and believable. Plus, all the puppies have a different action. It doesn't look like they cut corners and repeated the same action or animation at places. They look SO SUPER CUTE! I wish I could pull off something like that someday.

I know a couple friends who haven't seen it, and because mickey gave me the movie, I can show it to them too. Everyone must watch it! Oh! And before I close, I'd like to say I did look into the spelling of dalmatians, and the correct spelling IS the one with 'a'. That's because the breed of dog is believed to have originated in 'Dalmatia' in the 18th century. Hmm... I'd never even heard of a country by that name...

Upbeat music playlist

I tend to get very sleepy and drowsy as I am working in the late hours of the night. I don't like to go downstairs and make myself a cup of coffee, because, I don't particularly like hot coffee... not unless I'm really cold. And I'm really spoilt when it comes to cold coffee.... hehe. Love that Iced cap from timmys or any cold coffee from cafe coffee day. So I decide to use upbeat music to keep me alert!

But sorting through my vast library of songs and picking out the few lively songs will take a really long time. So I decided to try out some automatic BPM calculation softwares. First was Beatunes, which I've already posted about, over here. In a nutshell, that software is bull. So I decided to try out Tangerine! Tangerine! is meant to assist you make playlists for your workouts and stuff... It looks really really slick. And I used Tangerine! to compare Beatunes performance, and declared that Beatunes had a lot of flaws. Well, turns out, Tangerine! has a bunch of flaws too!

Today, I analyzed my music library and noticed that the upbeat song 'fast and furious tokyo drift' was given BPM of only 63! WHAT!??? That puts it behind the nice mellow slow song 'Suno Na' from Jhankaar beats. My hopes of getting a nice upbeat playlist were shattered, AGAIN! I went online, and certain websites list the tempo of Tokyo drift song to be 129 which would definitely be more accurate. So I am going to be manually entering the BPM for a bunch of tracks, despite having used Tangerine! Fix this stupid software you guys!

After that awful movie review to close the last year, I am really happy that this year is starting off with a movie such as Taare Zameen Par. I actually watched it before 31st, but this is what's going to impact the rest of my year. The movies that are gonna come next are gonna be invariably compared to this one. And the opinion of that movie is gonna be affected by the same thing.

This movie is brilliant in every way! Remember I was pissed about the child actor performance in the last movie? In this one, within 10 minutes of the movie, I was like "give this kid every friggin award in the world!" Darsheel kinda looks like my cousin sagar... ahem... yeah, I had to mention that. His is the part that could make or break the movie. And for that, i must congratulate the person in charge of the casting. But I can't say I'm equally happy about his brother. LOL. I started hating his guts the moment he comes in the house saying "sab subjects mein FIRST MOM!.." ("I'm first in every subject! mom!") Or maybe its just my eternal hatred for geeks! Or bullys... the kid who gets into a fight with Ishaan.. He keeps repeating the same thing... Ah! who cares. he was there for hardly a minute.

I could really relate to the story and the character. Infact, I couldn't have stopped laughing if my dad accidentally hit mom while threatening me. That scene was Hilarious! The immediate laugh was perfectly timed. But wait, there's a moment... if you have the movie, watch the scene before he swings... The mom looks at his hand for a split second with a scared look. Hilarious I say! I used to just sit with my glass of milk for really really long and just not drink it. I would be getting ready for school, put on one sock, and just forget everything and sit with the other in my hand until mom prompts "Kiska intezaar kar raha hai? Kya soch raha hai? Moja pehnu ke nahi pehnu?"(What are you contemplating? 'whether to wear the sock or not' ? ) I was always and I stress ALWAYS, looking outside the classroom. LOL...Doing animal noises... ahem.. lets not get into how bad a student I really was.

The special effects meant to show the things he imagines like in the song Lage raho and Bheja Kum are really amazing. Even the animation in the title and when he's doing the math test are really well done. I wasn't really expecting to see those things in the movie. They were a pleasant surprise. The alphabet spider that he smashes leaves behind white goo like a real one would. The animation is very lively and expressive. Which is also because of the awesome voiceover by Darsheel.

The teachers are really well portrayed. They are very believable. Infact, so believable, that I could even name what film teachers look like which real teacher I've had. The habits, the traits of the teachers' personalities are not just stereotypical, but real. Even the parents, and their mentality of saying whatever the teachers say too far is sadly, true. If only parents would not start yelling "so you're saying my child is a RETARD!" at every little thing, the situation would be much better off....for everyone. Even my dad would threaten me that he'd send me to a boarding school if I didn't study/behave.... Oh! there I go again, comparing myself to the movie... I think that's because a big part of the movie plays on making you feel the kid's plight, making you feel as if you're in his place, see the things going on from his perspective... And it wouldn't have been this way had it not been for the amazing direction.

One thing that bugged me was the story of solomon islands. I paused the movie where he mentioned that, and went googling for that. I tried every possible search term. Even researched over dyslexia. But nothing! Its not so much that they lied in the movie... Its that if someone were to tell me something like that, I would not immediately believe it or even consider his point.. I would ask for proof that this thing is real. I would not fall for it like Ishaan's dad did. But I say, it is possible that the trees die out from the 'bad sound/noise'. (The movie mentions that to clear a land for farming, the tribals would just gather around a tree/forest and curse it, say bad demeaning words to it and eventually, the tree would wither away) I had learned in moral science (those not familiar with the indian education system will find this weird) class that, plants that are exposed to sweet music grow better than the plants that are kept in silence. I even remember that little illustration in the book of a flower gyrating to music playing on a walkman... So I guess the opposite would work too...

The other problem I had with the movie was I wished it didn't end. I wanted it to go on and on. I was enjoying it SO much that I didn't want to go back to my boring lonely pathetic life. But there are many other real reasons to keep the movie going.... We didn't really see Ishaan's progress in tests, exams, and his graduation from being a sad loner to a friendly outgoing kid. I didn't think Amir Khan got enough credit for what he did. There could have been more instances of the dad or mom talking to Amir khan, and...I don't know... talk about dyslexia or something... like say... Ishaan's progress! I wonder what kind of parents are they who never come up to check on the condition of their kid throughout the semester.. only come at the end! Plus, the movie wasn't 3 hour long.. which usually is the length of hindi movies.... hehe..

Anyways, I feel everyone should watch this movie. If you can't understand hindi, get it with SUBTITLES! Don't get a dubbed version. Because the original voice and the emotion in the voice is really crucial, and the dubbed voice may not be able to carry that across. On a lighter note, I feel that now on, every kid will start trying to take advantage of this knowledge of a 'learning disability'... Kids will just start saying "teacher the words are dancing" or start writing invertes S and expect to be let go. Yeah.. kinda like that episode of south park... LOL. Anyways. Have a positive outlook and always look up in the new year!

I am SO going to regret these two hours of my life!

Today, I downloaded and started to watch 'my friend Ganesh' the movie. 3 minutes into it, I realized I couldn't sit through it! I knew I was gonna regret the next two hours of my life I was to spend watching this dumb Indian live action-animated indian movie. I don't think anyone over the age of 6 years could enjoy this movie. ok, at least humor me here. I remember when I was 7, I was in he 2nd grade and wasn't entertained by such mediocrity. But if today's kids in school are into this, I really doubt India's future. LOL ok, ok, just kidding...

I did spot the imac computer in their home ;) nice! Ok, back to the topic - the movie! The moment she entered, I knew the 'gangu tai' character was gonna be a very silly, slapstick one. And how dumb do the parents have to be to send their kid to the school with the gawar 'bai'! The stupid sequence in the kid's school was SO lame! I would rather watch tom and jerry or looney toones. Also, out of almost a billion people, they couldn't find ONE other decent actor? Wait... do they even need to act? Kids tease other kids naturally right? I guess I'm just pissed that harry potter guys have the best child actors, but we don't. Anyone else WITH me here?

The advisor who comes into his office with the proposal, WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH HIS ACCENT? I've been in mumbai, and I NEVER met anyone who speaks like that! Now, the story - When I saw it was raining, I figured story would go something like the kids get trapped in traffic due to the heavy rain, like the flash flood that happened in mumbai a couple years go. And then it would be his journey back home filled with adventures and trials and tribulations, and he makes new friends (including ganesh) and end of story! I would have LOVED THAT! because its more fast paced, more EXCITING, and would obviously make more sense than him going out and putting a rat in a bucket! with water!....Ok, even if he makes little holes for the water to get out, the mouse is TRAPPED!

Now lets get to the animation part. And that's about all I want to deal with. You know... there's only so much beating one little movie can take. haha...Now, in the title sequence itself, Ganesh stood out as the worst animated character! maybe even worst drawn... But the mouse was REALLY good. probably because they've had a lot of reference mouse animation to look at in the past. haha! The lipsync is SUPER AWFUL! I'd say tenali raman, a TV show had better lipsync than this. But because obviously, it was dubbed into multiple languages, your milage may vary depending on which version you saw. Ok, forget the dialogs... even the loud evil laugh wasn't very convincing. Not talking about exaggerating it to very cartoony levels for a human character, but I know humans can have more powerful laugh than what was in the movie. I just think the animators got LAZY!

So just 40 minutes into the movie, I say I can't take it anymore. utter rubbish! TRASH!

nightmares won't even let me sleep for two hours!

Wow! What a dream! I wish life doesn't end up being like that for me. That'd be really scary. I don't think i'd be able to deal with it. I was panicking even now! I woke up sweating.. And now i'm afraid to go back to sleep.

By 6pm today, I was feeling pretty drained out as I didn't get much sleep the last two days. I was working late on class assignments- art history presentation and typography project. So I made the really tough decision of not going to extra life drawing. And by 8 o clock, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stay awake any longer. I got in my bed with my jeans and t shirt on and was out cold in a second! I even left the lights on.

And now's when the dream starts. First thing I remember is me being at this Huge party. A lot of people are there. And surprisingly, I know almost all of them, and they know me. Could be like a party of all the people I ever knew or met in my entire lifetime. Like my classmates from nursery to my cousins' friends I've met. It was like a big catch up with old people thing.. But on a much larger scale as opposed to a high school reunion or somethin. It was like something was gonna happen to me in the near future and I won't be able to.. Communicate or stay in touch or something.

Next thing I know is I'm running around the house, getting/collecting little things.. Kind of like I'm packing to go somewhere. I am with chitrang talking away, and even he is running around.. Cleaning up and helping me out I guess. Then there's this really annoyed disgruntled pissed off teenager who comes in the house and starts throwing things around, messing everything up. He's about 16 or 17 I figure and like all of them at that age, is really loud and short tempered. He gets into an argument with lavi a.k.a. Chitrang. I look at him and I'm trying to remember who he is, because his face looks very familiar. After trying really hard, I say prateek? And he makes a weird face at me and says, "No! Ishu!" and leaves.

I am shocked! I remember seeing him when he was very little. Not even 11 I'd say.. And now I see him once for few minutes after so many years, and I'm about to leave again! I start talking to chitrang about it. I'm so sad that there's so much I've missed out on and am going to miss everything for next three years..(I really don't know that the three years are for) I'm sacred of being like that because my state of happiness relies a lot on how people I know are doing. One Case in point: the times when pranav's health had been deteriorating..

just then, I woke up. It was almost 11 pm. I'd been sleeping for only two hours. I was sweating and was pretty wet. I remembered I had to talk to dad, so i tried signing into google but the internet wasn't working. So I decided to just go back to bed. But now, sleep was like electricity in maharashtra- gone! So i figured i'd sit and contemplate the nightmare I just had.

Right off the bat, the thing that Really intrigues me is, "how the hell did my brain say ishu when i was totally clueless about who he was. He didn't even look anything like chitrang's younger brother! And why that name? Couldn't the brain think of some other person.. In particular, someone who i've seen is 16 or 17..can't consciously think of any names myself right now. Harsh is turning 18 in december, then Suraj. But anyways.. Did the brain know how I was gonna react when I found out that it was him?are the dreams a predetermined story or are they ad-libed as they go?

Maybe one side of the brain is actually me, and the other side of the brain is controlling the dialogue of the others around me or simulating the environments and the set up.. Hmm.. Gotta look into that! Interestingly, now that I think about the party and me going away thing could be that I've gotten into animation, and I was in india for the summer and am going to go back now. Or that I didn't get in, and my parents have shunned me and everyone is giving me a party before I become a homeless guy that noone will ever care about. But lets not get ahead of ourselves here.

I found this video on the federator studios blog, and it said that this short was made in disney to be part of the fantasia 2006 movie which was abandoned. And the short never made it to the theaters and wasn't submitted for the oscars.

I was just watching the japanese anime tv show based on the jungle book, that used to be telecasted on the indian channel doordarshan in the early 1990s. And besides being really nostalgic, I was also going 'man! I've heard those voices at a lot of other places for sure.' But the first actor I could recognize was nana patekar as sher khan. I confirmed that by going online and searching for sher khan jungle book nana patekar on google. But I wasn't satisfied there. I wanted to know about the other voice actors too.

I googled the names in the end credits, and was led to the IMDB pages of those actors....most of the actors. You also have to consider that those people might not be spelling their names in the same way I decided to spell them in english, because the names in the credits are in hindi/devnagri script. Prison break loopholes part 1

Oh yeah, even THAT show has a whole bunch of stuff I can't digest. I have been watching episodes of season one back to back since last few days, and I have been growing overly pissed with some stupidities that I noticed which till haven't been explained! In the episode where the agents try to get LJ and end up killing his parents, Lincon junior takes a picture of agent kellerman when he's pointing the gun at him. And that picture is very conveniently forgotten. The moment I saw the director reveal that he had the picture on his cellphone, I was saying to myself, "wow! Now he can email the picture to his friends, the lawyers, news channels, newspapers and finally get this agent off the streets!" But that never happened. I just can't live with the fact that he's a teenager who owns a cameraphone and doesn't know how to send picture messages and email the picture.

Then an episode later, in number nine, we catch up with LJ and we see him emailing the picture to his own email address. Why not email it to the attorneys? the newspapers? his friends? (well, I guess they didn't want to hire more actors to play LJ's friends) Another thing, if they can tap into his phone, listen to his phone conversations, track his exact location, why can't they intercept his text messages? Someone needs to a little thinking before they make these shows.

Then at the junkyard, when agent kellerman is pointing the gun at Linc, he just stands there with his finger on the trigger, but doesn't pull it. He had enough time to get rid of him. And someone care to tell me why is he scared of the cops? He's an agent and can go and bend the law any way he likes. He could justify that by saying "he was making a run for it!"

And as a last note, I'd like to respond to karthikeyan's blog post title, is breaking out of a prison really that easy? Well, its NOT! that's why they haven't gotten out yet! Lets see what happens in the following episodes.

Surf's up review

I believe I'm taking a big risk by posting this review here, as my art of cinema teacher is strictly against plagiarism and if she ends up searching my submission on the internet, and finding this, I'm gona have to explain to her that the blog is mine in the first place. LOL. But, it was just such a great movie, that I can't help myself. So here goes!

The CG animated movie surf's up, is a mocumentary. Probably the first ever animated one. The film crew follows the journey of Shiverpool resident penguin Cody maverick(voiced by Shia Lebouf...hope I spelled it right) from his home, to the town of pen-gu and through the 'Big Z memorial surfing contest'. They take interviews with other people like his mother and his brother, some elders of shiverpool, kids on the beach and so on. And as obvious, the camera crew follows all the other characters involved capturing all kinds of antics.

The Movie starts off with a old film footage(obviously staged... need I remind you this is a FAKE documentary?) of the surfing legend, big Z(voiced by Jeff bridges) during his heydays.

RTFS adventure game review

My friend recently released his flash made game, rayman the fan series adventure. He emailed me the swf file, as I'm on a mac and can't use exe files.. but for you on pc, here is the download link. Now I was gonna email him back with what I thought were the plus and minus points of the game, when I thought I could act all professional and do an unofficial official review kinda thing on my blog. Okay, so without trying to sound any more fancy, here goes.

The game starts with a silhouette of rayman on the screen, and even though its just black, you can clearly tell that he's running. That, though it has nothing to do with the game, I just wanted to point out because its good understanding of drawing as an animator. I've always read in books and heard big people in the animation biz talk about having your pose work as a black spot on a white background. Abhinav has put even more really good artwork and character designs into the game. Now, I've never played any original rayman games, so I don't know what is originally made up by my friend here, but it all works. Great!

The gameplay has a few glitches or just minor nuances if you may, which I have pointed out to him, and expect him to try and clean up. But the game is tough when its supposed to be and pretty easy at times. Like the boss fights were kinda tough for me to get through. But again, I am a lousy gamer. My reflexes are as slow as a snail. So don't take my word for it, or atleast take it with a grain of salt. Try out the game for yourself here.

The game music varies nicely, as the mood changes. It wasn't very irritating or disruptive like it gets in certain games, I mean, I could sit through it all without muting my laptop. And I was typing an email between conversations. Sound effects too, are done nicely, I specially liked the part where the frog character pokes rayman to grab his attention to something. But there are still no voices, and The title clearly states that this is the text version. But we all hope the voices will be recorded soon and the game relaunched. come on! download it already!

Shrek 3 was a gut buster!

I was planning to go see it on Monday, but I was talking to mickey on friday and he said he's going to Toronto tomorrow and will go see Shrek 3, so I shamelessly tagged myself along. We had lunch, then were window shopping around the scotiabank theater for a while, and got back to the cineplex at around 3:10 to be able to grab good seats before they were all taken. Then we waited. The movie didn't start until 20 minutes after it was supposed to!

Spoiler alert.

I don't think I need to go through the whole story, as you might already have heard that elsewhere. What I would like to get u excited about is probably something u didn't foresee. You all know that scene from the trailers where shrek gets puked upon by a creature in a pram... That pram has an ogre baby. Yeah! That was the potential spoiler. Fiona tels shrek that she's pregnant and that he's about to become a father. And as you'd expect, shrek is not ready. yeah yeah, the typical concern, whether I will be a good father for my children or not... but in his case, its different because he's an ogre. He is worried his kids will be ashamed of calling an ogre their father. I really felt for that poor guy in the particular sequence where he's talking to donkey about it.

Oh, almost forgot, before this talk, there is a nightmare sequence which involves hundreds and thousands of little ogre babies just gushing into his house. It starts off with the one in the pram. And lemme tell you, he's really CUTE. they did a really nice job on the character design and modeling. Then there are 3..5..8...15... and so on. They are destroying the house, getting themselves into trouble and all that. Kinda reminds me of the tom and jerry episode where tom is baby sitting a baby. LOL. Then the number just 'explodes'! They are coming in from the windows, the door, chimney(huh?) etc. I wonder how much computing was required for rendering that crowd of detailed babies. Great job there!

Then the puss and donkey being changed into each other is just a gimmick and lends itself to a few gags in the movie, but it doesn't have any solid purpose like donkey turning into a steed in the second movie. But it can easily be ignored. The rest of the movie is really funny. I was laughing from the first scene to the last dance sequence. Even the death of the frog kind sequence was comic! Other sequences that I really liked include the fateful events that happen on th day shrek and Fiona are filling in for the kind and queen. Some of them you've seen on the tv, but there is a big shot that they are keeping reserved for the movie only. so don't miss it, GO WATCH IT!

Before you go on & read my post I want to direct you to this blog It's a review of Disney's meet the Robinsons I would totally love to know what you thought of it. I was just shocked to know that there are people like him who could hate Disney animation so much. I being the animation aspirant that I am, thought I could never hate any animation that is, until I saw hoodwinked. I had heard about how bad this movie is from some people before, but was doubtful about whether I would end up thinking the same way too. But I recently discovered, how sub standard the movie really is. The animation and rendering is so 'low budget'. I was told that its an indian production but I believe Mickey meant that some parts of its work were outsourced to India. The story is nothing like an Indian could ever come up with. But well, at some points I did feel like the movie was a bollywood production!

The little red riding hood character was very poorly done. I can't imagine what the makers had in mind for her... She acts like a teenager but she doesn't look like a teenager at all. And the scenes between her and her grandmom were plain pain in the ass. They tried to have the emotional aspect to it that many Disney movies have but it just wasn't done good enough so it ended up being plain sloppy. Then the song sequences. Even they were just as irritating as bollywood song and dance sequences. I wished they had just kept away from all that. In comparison to that, the other part of the movie was way better.

The best character was the goat who could change horns. Nice, perky, awesome design and thought. I also liked the song he sings. If at all, you end up with a copy of the movie, just watch it for the goat part. He's awesome! the rest, was plain boring... come to think of it, the goat part was the thing that made me not HATE the movie. Hate is too harsh a word. I just didn't like the rest of the movie is enough.

Thoughts about TMNT

I watched the movie in famous players Mississauga the day before yesterday and I thought it was pretty cool! Even though its a studio which I had never heard of before, that's nothing to fret about. The guys at IMAGI studios have done a damn good job! The environment looks very real in places and parts. I'd say even better than 300! The turtles are so detailed, especially during the fight sequence between...(oh I guess I shouldn't mention that...it'll be a spoiler..well, there are more to come in the latter part of the post so I wouldn't recommend reading it unless you hve seen the movie or are prepared to know the story beforehand) So, that brings me to the fight sequences.. so amazingly done. The action really makes your adrenaline pump hard. I was at the edge of my seat when the turtles were kicking butt! Oh, not only the turtles, the human characters April and KC too were amazing. I liked the ninja female... HOT! hehe...

Oh well, the story? I couldn't exactly get the part in the beginning where they are explaining that the general opened a portal to another dimension and thus 13 monsters were released into this world. Also, his brothers were turned into stone and he was immortalized. (spoiler alert!)He lived on through the ages and is now preparing to capture the 13 monsters and send them back to the other dimension, break the curse and finally, DIE! so you might want to know that before you enter he theaters or else you could be scratching your head halfway through the movie too. Well, I only have one thing to point out, if the monsters had been plaguing the world since 3000 years, why didn't we ever see them before? But I'm ok living with that since it was such a rocking movie.

Oh ya, that reminds me, the music is amazing too. I'll be getting the soundtrack soon. I'll leave ya with this teaser trailer. A better trailer is at the TMNT website TMNT.warnerbros.com have fun!

Meet the Robinsons - Making the 3D/Stereo Film

I have seen one 3d movie made in India, (I don't want to talk about the movie) and the glasses we had to wear for that weren't coloured red and blue like they have shown here. they were both the same colour and didn't give me headache. I wonder if they were using the same technology they used here.

I also remember seeing the movie spy kids 3D in the theater in pune and for that one, I had to use those red and blue coloured glasses. They gave me a headache! plus, the movie was really shitty too. so I am really glad to hear that this movie doesn't have those red and blue picture. I'm really looking forward to watching it in the theaters. So, you should be waiting for the exciting and fun review!

I just don't know where to begin. There are just so many people voicing their opinions about the movie and so many different opinions on it that its not easy to be original. I am trying to think what are people who are reading this, trying to get from this.. But me being an aspiring animator and also knowing a lot about sfx, I am basically gonna be looking at the technical/visual aspects. Also, the thing that I heard last night in the 4th year animation studio is gonna help me guide myself through this.

So, lets begin. I will start with what's most obvious first. The film employs a lot of use of the particle system. With the start of the movie, you see extravagant and totally 'out there' depiction of snowfall. Its moving even when the rest of the frame is still. Nothing could make it look more fake. No hint of any attempt at simulating it to look natural. The film makers wanted it that way. Maybe to keep it easy for the sfx team. Yes, there are a lot of cutting corners. And by the way, whatever I just said about snow, also goes for the fire thingys. the little sparks.. I am not exactly sure if that's the accurate word for it. Flares? fiery specks? Oh well, never mind.

Next thing I'm gonna talk about is in the movie logo too, perhaps you have noticed it. (if you're not colour blind that is!) I'm talking about the blood splatter! There's just so much splatter when they're in combat, cutting people's limbs and heads but I didn't see that much blood actually flowing or accumulated anywhere. When you say bloodbath, you expect to see people covered with blood but that was hardly the case. People with arrows through their bodies or stuff are totally clean and the wounds surprisingly don't seem to be bleeding at all! In almost every scene, the backdrop or the ground is totally clear of any blood. What the heck?!!!

I suppose there's just one more thing to say, The backgrounds. In certain scenes, they actually had depth to them and had depth and were awesome! But in other places, there just didn't seem to be any connection of the background to the actors and people. One case in point, a scene where the kind is giving a speech...(yeah right that's so exact!) oh, well, I don't remember what he's saying in that particlar scene, but the camera pans with him and one part is a blue stone wall and the other, you see the orange sky. THAT particular sky looked as it it was painted and put back there. There was no suggestion by means of the lighting on the king or the army there that said that they're in the same place. Now if you get what I mean and agree, well and good. If you don't, I don't give a damn so don't comment.

I don't know how or from where, I got an invitation for a website called mytoons.com and I checked it out 6 days later, it was a animation related site, kinda like youtube and deviantart half and half. I immediately registered and went on to watch some awesome animations. This one is really remarkable, the character designs and the story and voices(its not in english) So just watch it. So, turns out me not being able to use internet on my laptop at home is not all that bad after all. Since I couldn't gear up to do any work on account of being really tired tonight, I decided to watch the 7 episodes of drawn together season 3 that I had downloaded.

The show is still the same, just my sense of humour has changed a little. Or maybe these are the kinds of jokes you'd laugh at only once. So I can't say that I enjoyed these just as much. The 'adultness' is still there, but they just don't show graphic images that much any more. I'm talking about things like boobs and penises. Or lesbian and gay sex.
The funniest episode I'd say was the one where claire keeps wooldor suckbat sick to get people's attention. There were so many things that ticked me off about that. Specially the retard baby of captain hero and his sister! Lol!

Now I only need to get episode 8 onwards of the season 3 of the first ever animated reality tv show!

South park season 11 starts...With apologies

The new episode of south park was totally amazingly hilarious. While the last season's end left me feeling south park was starting to loose it and isn't as funny anymore, the new episode hits it right in the nuts! Now I can say again, Family guy is not funnier than south park. The episode deals with stan saying the n word on television game show wheel of fortune and being abused throughout the show. And as he tries to win back his self respect, There is a 'midget' david nelson trying to teach students about respecting minorities. But cartman ...as always, ...won't listen!

The stan marsh story is what it starts with, but without a doubt, the eric cartman part is more funny than that. No matter what david does, eric cartman is hell bent on making fun of him. He even fights him in the end. I won't give away too much here, so I'll stop. And if you, like me, were skeptical about how good the new episodes are, there's nothing to worry about, its totally worth the 30 minutes of your miserable little life. you MUST watch this episode is all I am going to say.

Heroes is getting stupider already!

So, I missed this episode of heroes again and I wanted to watch it so bad that I downloaded it off the internet again, and boy was I disappointed. There were a number of things just WRONG in this one. I'd like to start with suresh and sylar. He makes some tea and when asked by sylar what it was, he says its 'chai' which is just hindi for tea. And considering that he speaks good enough english, why don't just have him say tea? Are you implying that his english isn't good enough to know chai means tea? Well, to be honest, I would totally buy it if I was told that he's kinda stupid so he doesn't know english very well. Because, why would a 'really intelligent' scientist take the risk of keeping a really deadly superpowered mutant/freak alive giving him a chance to kill you? To keep him tied up after you drug him and put him to sleep and tell him that you want to kill him for killing his father. I was going, ' Hey mohinder, You could have extracted the bone marrow while he was out cold and killed him and froze his body for future if you think you might need it again later..' He obviously hadn't thought it through.

And hiro, even after being in the place for so long, is still a kid at heart. Which gets too annoying at times! What's with " yay flying man!!!" And when he's up on the stairs, just inches away from the sword, why didn't he just pick it up? What's stopping him? The caretaker guy was down there, the security guards were not even in the room, and after he has his sword, he'll get his powers and he can teleport to anywhere or top time. I know this is just a REALLY STUPID plot to bring ando back into the story. But we all know he's gonna go back to japan soon. he won't be there in NY at the time of the blast!

Then the detectives. Even niki/jessica says that spying on a guy from his own hotel is soo stupid. And I totally agree with her. Is the american police really that stupid? And nathan, was so desperate to shoot Linderman, why doesn't he just do it? if he IS special, he won't die. But atleast give it a try... even we want to know what is linderman capable of. And out of all my experiences with bad guys in movies and television and cartoons, Linderman is NOT they kind of guy who can be trusted. so he is gonna kill nathan sooner or later. Just get it over with!

I hate it when sitcoms get stretched beyond sense and sensibility for no reason. Now lets divert our attention towards peter. He walks into mohinder's appartment at a really bad time for sure. Then he makes another stupid move by saying out his name. Now sylar knows its him. Its like saying dinner is served, Come and get me!

Well, I agree, the last one wasn't that strong an argument, but the next one is something you can't look away from. Its never EVER explained in the show, how Sylar gets to learn people's powers from their brains. Does he eat the brains or put them inside his own skull? If yes, what gave him the idea? where did he come up with that when he killed his first target? Next guess would be does he look at the brains and modify his own brain somehow? Oh come on, he's a fuckin clock repairman and not a surgeon!! Don't tell me he needs dna from the brain. If you did that, you'd be making yourself look stupid. The dna of a person is the same in every cell of his body. If you remember, mohinder tells sylar to give a sample of his dna by swabing the stick on the inside of his cheek. They really need to explain that because its the centre pieces of the show! And I for one would really like to know how he cut open the head of the first victim he killed!

Ghost story of sorts

My friend lives in Delhi ... One day he went to visit his uncle for some days. One evening he and some other of my college friends went to Priya's for a movie. He had so much fun that he forgot that it was very late. He reached around midnight......

He had to walk about a mile from where his friend dropped him.... As he
was walking alone, he could sense that the night felt very creepy as it was
so dark. While walking, he was astonished to see an old creepy looking guy selling some books. It was a very unusual thing to see a thing like that..... It got the shivers on him when he noticed that his old guy is unusually pale and staring at him...

The old guy said "Son why don't you get a book...it would keep you company". Then he did something which he would regret for the rest of his life .........

My friend started to act brave & thought why not & had a look at his collection.. he noticed that all the books were related to supernatural activities...but he found one that was very interesting. So he asked the old man "how much is it?"....

The old guy replied, "Well son...this is an interesting book...it's
only for Rs 250. "

My friend was shocked and said "but...but...it's expensive"

This time the old man stared which freaked my friend. My friend quickly checked all his pockets & found Rs.200 & said "This is all I have." The old guy replied "It's OK son ...you can have the book for that price"

As my friend was just about to run for home...the old man called back & said "Son ... whatever happen, you don't ever flip the book to it's last page... remember these words or you would regret it...!!!!!"

My friend nodded and never looked back ... Reaching home...he quickly asked his Uncle whether there was any new old book seller nearby? The Uncle replied "not that I know of but ...we've heard that there's 1 old man comes once in a while during full moon nights but heard that there is something creepy about it...why son?"

My friend freaked out... he told his uncle "nothing uncle...just asking". He started reading the book with the old man's words on
his mind. At night, 2 o'clock, as he went to bed, a gush of wind blew
which chilled him up to his bones. At that glimpse, he noticed the wind had
blown the pages to its last page. He remembered what the old man has said!
But we humans tend to have the tendency to know. Out of curiosity, he flipped
to the last page & fainted...

Open season Review

Thanks tracey for showing interest in the movie review, but unfortunately, when I visited the multiplex, I found out they had stopped screening the ant bully. But they were showing "Open season" instead. Now I had seen the promo and was equally excited about this movie too. so me and my friend decided to go watch that.

The movie start was very unusual. Unusual in a funny way. The bear(Boog voiced by Martin Lawrence) is shown as a jolly happy go lucky guy living out his life in the city with the park ranger (Beth voiced by Debra Messing) who has domesticated him since the time he was a little cub. But he runs into a deer (Elliot voiced by Ashton Kutcher) and helps him escape from the mullet-sporting hunter (Shaw voiced by Gary Sinise) And thats where it all goes haywire.

Elliot turns up at boog`s house and persuades him into going outside. They go and wreck a store that night and Boog gets busted leading people to believe that he`s gone wild. That belief is further confirmed when at his show, Elliot turns up and as he tries to get rid of Elliot, The crowd sees a totally different thing happening through the curtain. This misunderstanding leads Beth to be compelled to leave Boog in the forest again.

The story takes various twists and turns from there which are best enjoyed first hand. Thats why I wont be mentioning that here. The movie really gets captivating here onwards. All the voices are very well done. The animation is top noch, specially Boog`s fur. Some animals are rather cartoony, like the duck for instance, but is totally enjoyable for all age groups. A must watch movie which I`d recommend to every animation fan and others. GO WATCH IT!

I was really really excited about going to see this movie. But pranav had said 'no' in college. Thats because he had some other stuff to do. But I told him I felt I`m never gonna get to see this movie in theater. (because when you move up in life, you never wanna go back to the way things were in the 'miserable' time of your life.) I have stopped going to movies alone since I found pranav to go to movies with me. And if he didnt find time in his schedule, I am doomed to a life of my pc and dvds. Plus I couldnt possibly handle the "MORE" waiting time of the dvd release or the download time...which I know would be totally wrong!

The excitement levels are back up again as he has said yes and I`m going to go see this movie in 2 hours. I`ve heard its great from arjun bhaiya and I know he`s almost never wrong about movies. I`ll try to write a review when I`m back.

Tata Sky review

The reason I didnt update my blog yesterday is because I was at my cousin tina`s house watching vh1/cartoon network/nick/hbo all day long. The morning was pretty bad and mom REALLY pissed me off by her yelling. Because this time, it was pointless! So, in order to have my revenge, I got out of the house around afternoon without even asking for mom`s permission.

The television watching experience was awesome! I had not seen tv for such a long time at a strech since dunno how many weeks. Because today, I had access to those channels that werent even available to me in pune. Namely vh1. Plus, the possibility of watching all the cartoons in their un- dubbed original english language was totally cool! I always hated dubbed shows and movies...their lips are totally out of sync and the impact then is just not the same. I was watching the movie LOTR the return of the king on HBO late at night in amaingly clear picture. I`ve never seen such clear transmission. It was like watching it from a dvd!

Besides these, there are about 100 other channels, (many of which are regional language cannels) Thats almost all the available channels in india today except for a few out of which only zoom is the one that comes to my mind right now. But zooms already available on dish tv dth network, and hopefully it`ll be on tata sky too. And then there are extras like the movie on demand channel and the sport channel which allows you to view sport coverage from camera of your choice. I admit its a cool feature and tata sky`s heavily advertising it too.

Now the installation costs only 4k and rent per month is 200 rupees so its definately worth a buy!And another set top box and 100 rupees as rent is the expense for adding it to another television in your house. I`m gonna try and pester dad into getting this for our home too. But before I exit, I must mention that installing it will require new cabling in your house because it cant use the older style cable system. so be ready to knock down your wires or just be wary of tripping on that exposed cable.. but look at the brighter side, you have more place to hang your clothes to dry now!

I recently found a great site that has all the episodes of the cartoon network show ed edd and eddy for download. its the3eds.com The quality is nothing to boast about, its just small upto 20 mb files windows media video format but they are direct http downloads...no rapidshare. and thats what I just loved...Just schedule all the downloads and it`ll be done in no time. so untill next time, go out and enjoy them all.

I made my car!

How does it look? I know it might not be much fun for some of u, s I found out when asked lavi to comment on my car renders gallery. He was unintrested and posibly annoyed that I asked him to do this. well, anyways, I really have fun doing this. its just like a challenging game to me. But this game too needs a powerfull pc. and recently my pc was facing a problem and stupid old me didnt even notice it.Windows was utilizing only one core of my dual core processor for god knows what reason. But after trying some system restore, only option was to reinstall windows. well, after I did that, as obvious my render time went to half. and thats wha this render is here to prove.It had previously taken as long as 13 minutes to do this.

Been having fun with this for a while now.

After only discussing adult cartoons like south park, simpsons, family duy, drawn together etc, I`m finally discussing a child cartoon...what got me to do it? well, I recently got to download some episodes of this cartoon from limewire. So for all those who dont know, I`m gonna put in a little description. Or maybe a link to the wikipedia page would be better? Drawn Together

I had started downloading the first season of drawn together day before yesterday and Icould only get 1 episode done so far(besides the ones I already have) So I`ll discuss the most weird episode I have seen so far....Episode 2, Clara`s Dirty Little Secret.
What`s so weird you ask? well, THERES A MONSTER LIVING IN CLARA`S VAGINA!!! It starts from where the previous episode left us. Toot comes in and tells Clara that she`s become pregnent because of kissing Foxy. She goes and tells this to Foxy and she explains(with a full live demonstration) what sex is and how Babies are born. But that makes clara even more sad. Because no man will love her vagina because there`s a monster called Octopussoir living in her vagina.

She tells them That when she was younger, her stepmom cursed her with this. So they have a "reality television" like ceremony where she`s looking for her true love. After all have been eliminated, Prince charming kisses her, and what`s a scene right out of Shrek, they both go up in the sky, there`s light emitting from both of them and then a crazy twist. Hey I dont know how many people had read my post about slang before this, "what the heck did my teen just say?" I had mentioned about a place where I found hip-hop song lyrics and its "white" or regular english translation. All this black slang thing is really funny! On chappelle`s show, in a episode, he makes fun of Lil john for only exclaiming "yeah, what and okay" and also said something about a slang called "skeet". Yes, I`ve heard it too in song "get low" which was in need for speed underground. He says, "I dont know how they`re allowing that to be said on television. Maybe they just dont know its meaning yet. But hell are they going to freak out when they know what that means...they`re gonna be like 'Oh my god how did we let them say that? we`re gonna have to stop them from saying that!' "
So, when I too used a slang in my new blog I thought questions were gonna come up and so I set out to discover its meaning. But I landed on this page first! It has translation of a english song filled with black slang to one without one. To be honest, I never really liked the song or the video but it was very popular!
And now, for the first time, I`m gonna post a video on my blog page. since its related...here is Black eyed peas, My Humps!!!

So, Like I said, the categories list had gotten very long so i implemented the freshtags. Now just one thing I want to mention you guys is that when you will select a category, the whole page will seem to reload. But it`ll be fast this time because its already in your cache.
So from the next post on, I`ll be back to posting about cartoons. I have watched a lot of episodes of family guy lately almost completed downloading season4 and will complete the last season-5 soon. Then it`ll be off to drawn together and American dad and ofcourse new episodes of south park. But I`m not concentrating on writing about the new south park episodes because almost everyone else is discussing them too. Getting so long

I had used the delicious code for the sidebar so it displays all the tags that are there in my delicious account. Therefore I wasnt using it to bookmark other sites. I started using spurl.net to bookmark sites that I like and want to be able to go back to from anywhere. But recently, I had activated a feature called delicious integration and so it also bookmarks the sites at delicious. Thats why, all the new tags appeared. Now I`m gonna have to do something about this really soon or else its gonna get out of hand! so i`ll install the drop-down menu feature for my delicious tags related to blog.

Thin White Line

The first episode of season 3 has brian getting addicted to coke(the drug not the drink) While he`s working as a sniffer dog for the police. After the family finds it out, they decide to send him to "Providence Rehab clinic". Because lois insists, that they wont be on a cruise when Brian is in rehab, the family cancels the vacation they were supposed to go on. But peter likes the rehab center soo much that he decides to vacation in the rehab center itself. Brian is making good progress But peter is just being his mischievious self.
One night, peter convinces him to go to the teenage pregnency place to play a prank. As predictable, they get caught and the councellor tells brian that Peter is his x factor and that he is the one who caused the addiction in the first place. But Brian believes that everybody is responsible for their own destiny and so decides to leave the house. The story of This episode will be continued in the next one. So, Untill I download it, goodbye.

I am just back from seeing the movie Taxi 9211. The movie was good but my keen sense of observation noticed some errors. What The heck did my teen just say?

I remember the episode of drawn together where foxy is having a stroke and captain hero says "i`m sorry foxy, I dont speak blackanese" that was just so right. There are a lot of words in black english-the slangs that we dont understand at all. I was therefore happy to find a blog that had a translation of the blackanese song "check on it" by beyonce. But I was too lazy to bookmark it and now when I set off to search for it again, I stumbled upon a new blog with the post what the heck did my teen just say? Its pretty funny the way the title sounds and some comments. Besides, it has a list of the songs that the teen are listening to, this week. so go check on it.

Family Guy Movie

I downloaded the Family Guy Movie yesterday and watched it, it totally rocks!!!
When I watched the first episode of family guy, I was very surprised when I saw the infant talking like a mature grown up. Also, didnt expect the pet dog in such a show to talk...But it eventually became very very funny. I specially remember the episode where Stewie becomes very voilent to get his money back...i think that was season 5 episode 11...
So, when I read the title of the movie, I was really excited-A whole movie about stewie griffin!- I hadnt seen any commercials for the movie or read about the story....well the tile did say "Stewie griffin-The untold story". The movie is about Stewie having a near death experience in the swimming centre, and then going out to california with his dog Brian in search of his "Real" dad. This happens to be his future self. When he finds this out, he decides to jump to the future with him. In the future, he finds out that he is not at all like he wanted to become. Infact, he was a complete loser. How he tries to change the life of his future self and returns to his time, would sound like a very repetetive story.
But thats whats different about Family Guy! Its very amazing and I found it not a little predictable what was going to happen to Stewie. So, get a torrent and watch it! (The rmvb format is less than 200mb!!!)

Dave Chappelle

It came to my mind to download Dave chappelle`s shows after I saw the ad of Oprah where he made fun of Oprah.
I had heard about the dave chappelle show while watching south park. If anyone has really seen the south park episodes right till the end know... They announce, "If making fun of people was a crime, This man would be a lifer!" I didnt even know that dave chappelle was black untill I saw him on Oprah(its ad....I have yet to see that episode...it airs on star world on sunday at 8:30)
I downloaded the videos of two of his shows, Killing them softly and for what its worth(it might be for ALL its worth...i dont recall right now). The best joke was the michael jackson joke...Then there also were other jokes just as good. So, If u want to watch dave chappelle, and have broadband connection and a bittorrent client, ask me and I`ll send u the torrent file and keep seeding it at night from 2-8. I`d not mind sharing it at all!!!

Family Guy

After I saw what American Dad was like, I thought I should also see what kind of work did its creators do before making american dad...Yes, American dad is made by the same people who make family guy.
The first episode of family guy that I saw(5th season, 9th episode.) had too many songs in it for my liking and I was almost bored. But I still saw the 11th episode of the same season and I loved it! The way a cute little kid turns into a almost gangster like figure to take the money his dog owes him is very funny to me. Then there was Peter`s reuniun where he meets the star of the football team and joins the football team. And there was only one song in the episode...which happens when he makes a touchdown.
I think its OK not very good(at least thats the opinion untill I see more of it)

The skull was drawn as a single line which is very prominent here...I shouldnt have drawn that dark line, instead, should have just shaded the hair...the shape of the skull comes automatically..

In my last post, I had asked if someone could show me how to draw Aditya from the photograph that I had. I gave it a shot myself, and here are the results...

This is a sketch of the complete figure, but I didnt show the head here because it came out really really bad. I first made the stick-figure/skeleton for this because this was a huge drawing and had to get the proportions right in the beginning itself. Then made the solids around, like was said in the book. And then finally did all the detailing.

Then I did two sketches of the face itself. Tell me which one u think is better.

I want to make a sketch of my mamaji`s son aditya in this photo. Can someone please show me how I could do that? Because I have tried my best but it turned out to be very very ugly! You see, the photo itself wasnt very clear because the flash wiped out a little of his expression and then It was scanned badly again so that his face is just filled with bright light...can anyone tell me how I can make a portrait of his face in the same expression and not make it look like the overexposed photograph?

American dad!

After downloading episode 211 for a second time, I decided that I shouldnt take a chance with it getting deleted/lost again and watch it then and there in the siffy cafe. So, Since I know that not many of you know about this series, lets start by telling you about the cartoon and the characters.

The title role i.e. American Dad, is Stan Smith, who works for the CIA and is constantly on the alert for terrorist activity. Stan will go to extremes to protect his beloved America from harm; as evidenced by the terror-alert color code on his fridge, and his frequent knee-jerk reaction of shooting holes in the toaster whenever the toast pops up. In addition to Stan's wife and teenage children, the Smith household has two rather unconventional members. There's Roger, the sarcastic space alien who rescued Stan from Area 51 who deeply resents the fact that he's not allowed to leave the house, and therefore, has been reduced to drinking wine and smoking cigarettes, and Klaus, a lascivious, German-speaking goldfish; the result of a CIA experiment gone seriously wrong where the CIA tried to give a fish a German man's brain. Stan's son is a dorky teenager who tries to be cool. And his teenage daughter, Hayley is currently attending community college. Despite her father's best efforts she has turned out to be a left-wing liberal. She is very unlike all the other older teenage sisters in that she cares for the environment.(as opposed to Eliza`s sister in "the wild thornberrys") His wife has had a past life of sex and drugs.

Rang De Basanti

I always thought there were 2 kind of people in the world one those liked funny movies and one that liked senti movies. But then I met the third kind

AARGH crap! I know thats stupid. But I really was surprised to know Harsh didnt like the movie. He said that he didnt like it because it was very senti...and that he didnt like the dream sequence where R. Madhwan is in jalianwala bag asking for his jacket.(c`mon that was meant to be a funny dream of his!) Well I guess its ok..since he liked movies like DHOOM and ZINDA i think his choice IS a little different.
Then came another shock, I dont believe I hadnt noticed it before. The song rang de basanti is sung by Daler Mehndi!!! I never liked that sardar but this song was my favourite for a while. And almost everyone I ask seems to know its sung by him. BTW who are the singers of the other songs? I`ll try to find out if u dont tell me.

A Grand Half Century

The "my life" blog has reached 49 posts and this is the 46th post in the fun portal and I am planning to do something special when both the blogs finish 50 posts. That`ll be like the century of my blogging if u combine the both. I want something that`ll appeal to s many people as possible. Just yesterday, I read the juglar view column written in the sunday TOI. I really enjoy reading his column. Its very funny..a little bit of sarcasm but i like sarcasm I really do.
So, the article was about the audience whom you write for. I`m not going to type all of it out right now but I can sum it up in one line as-You can see the reaction of the audience if you are speaking in font of them but in writing its impossible to tell the reaction of the readers. And, if you dont get any comments on it either, what are you supposed to do?
Ruchi didi came and left a comment on the eyes....not any of the articles in particular.(its ok ruchi didi I understood the other day that you have no intrest in "fun" at all) so I am not even going to try to figure out what could be a good article to write...Instead, I have two options for you people-

Either you volunteer to write a guest article(yes its ruchi didi`s idea)

OR, you could come up with a challenging subject for me to write about! give me something difficult. I`m ready for some brainstorming.

Oscar Shuns CGI Movies

Yes, it is in fact, a very shocking news. How come none of the big earners like madagascar, chicken little and Robots not be nominated for the oscar? It turns out that this time, the oscar jury is looking for more hand artistry. The first nominee-a movie i hadnt heard of before-Howl's Moving Castle is hand drawn and the rest two are stop motion/claymation. wallace and gromit:The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and The Corpse Bride. Personally, even I think that The Corpse Bride is the best of all the animated movies. all the best!

Toy Story 3

I had read a few days back, that toy story 3 will not be made, But i still didnt know what was the story of the movie. So here it is- The film saw Buzz Lightyear recalled to his Taiwan manufacturer after a series of malfunctions, leading to Woody and all the rest of the toys in Andy's room to travel to Asia to save Buzz.

No visitors...this is so disheartening!

I have been writing non stop on this page without caring whether people visit it or not but recently, when i stumbled across a guy`s blog which had more than 35 comments on a single post, I felt bad that hardly anyone commments on my blog. My blog is listed in blogexplosion and blogxchange but still almost 1/4ths of the visits shown in the counter are from me previewing the page. So if u are reading this, Please link my blog on yours or tell people you know to visit, and you`ll be making me very happy. Thank you.

I had stopped tagging posts for a while when i was using wbloggar but after I installed the greasemonkey extension for firefox1.5 and posted, there were many new options that appeared the first time I posted. I had even changed the title of my blog and so I couldnt correctly configure it and now, the tag links on the bottom of my posts dont link to my delicious page. Please help me with this john.

this is a pretty good strip.Although it took me some time to understand it fully, I was roaring with laughter when I finally understood the pun. game types-rope race

The most awesome thing I found was the game type called RR (or rope race for newbies) I had myself thought up of different modes like using only bazooka and greenade which is called B&G and some others. But this was something I could never imagine.
This mode requires extreme expertise with the rope weapon. Players begin at the starting point of a map specially designed like a maze so that going through it is going to require climbing and decending which cant be done without ropes and hence a scheme with unlimited rope and nothing else. worms are even anchored to the ground so that they dont just walk across flat paths.(all the rules can be found at worms hut) RRkit has animated gifs showing how all the different moves are performed.
Thats all the typing for me tonight. go out explore on your own if u have he game or ask someone for it. You might as well consider going to warez sites like projectw.org if you really want this game.

Maybe some of u did notice that I have changed the name of my blog and the description to better describe what i`m posting here from now on, but for the newcomers who are finally here now because its not just cartoons, Welcome.
Getting to the topic, I was spending my time playing worms world party with my nephewes and neice. when I felt that it could e better there could be something more to this game than just the default weapons,maps,voices,flags etc... and the search yeilded an insane amount of resources! I had started blogrolling them on this blog but i still wanted to write an entry and tell you what all sites are really good and what arent. And boast about all the new things I learned-bout the game.
So, lets start with...ummm wht?
oh allright. I remember I placed a link to fileplanet on the left. That will take you to the download page of a worms armageddon patch that has many new soundbanks,maps,flags,graves and schemes. The file is a zip file that will automatically extract into the default folders of worms armageddon so u dont have to manually place all the files in the user/flags,graves,speech etc folders. The colour maps are in png format which worms world party will not accept. to use them in wwp u will have to convert png to jpeg/bmp. so if u have that good a connection, go ahead and download the complete file at once!

I have been posting on that blog a lot lately but havent been getting enough hits..maybe I should adopt the writing style of the writers from top gear magazine. I really liked reading that magazine on my way to durg.

God dammit no comments so far? Its driving me nuts!!! come on people, Fan mail, Hate Mail even spamming will do just want to know what you guys think of it. I have the second strip almost ready now but its on my desktop and am having frequent power cuts today so cant do anything about that and I will be going to durg tomorrow so will only come back to upload it on 24th/25th. I also wanted to make a greeting card and post it on my blog to wish mamaji and mamiji a happy married life. Well apart from that, I have been just reading little gamers and some stuff to help me make my comic better. I have finally made the characters and so the 4th strip will introduce them.

Thanks Ayub for e-mailing me today with the explanation for the categories hack, But I have already implemented the greasemonkey hack on this blog and the technorati method from nathan`s blog on "my Life" blog. I`m finding the greasemonkey method convenient enough since delicious`s tagroll automatically displays a list of my categories to the left. The plus point about Nathan`s method is that you dont have to go and post/bookmark your topic every time. But I think you can improve Nathan`s technorati method by typind the html code in the post template like Ayub said so that you dont have to type it every time you write a post! Nobody i know has implemented this method yet, probably because they didnt visit my blog lately...it seems ruchi didi for one is very busy... well, anyways thanks all you guys who helped!
